Whether you have portions of your tooth from damage or tooth decay or you have cosmetic imperfections that you would like to hide, dental bonding is a non-invasive, painless, and quick solution to all of these problems.
Dental bonding is the use of tooth-colored composite resin to fill in cracks in your enamel and rebuild the missing tooth structure. It’s versatile because it can be used for restorative and cosmetic purposes.
Do you have aesthetic problems with your teeth that you want to hide? This can be covered with dental bonding similar to the way veneers are used. However, bonding requires no permanent change to your enamel, is reversible, usually doesn’t require anesthetic, and is much more cost-effective. Contact us at Rochelle Dental to schedule a consultation with Dr. Vicaro or Dr. Lo.
At your consultation, our Rochelle dentist will need to examine your teeth to determine if you’re a good candidate for dental bonding.
We will match the shade of the resin to your natural teeth for a seamless appearance.
After roughening your enamel, a conditioning liquid will be applied to etch the tooth and help the bonding agent stick.
Composite resin is applied in layers and exposed to UV light to harden.
After curing the resin, it will be fully hardened and we can perform some additional shaping to ensure that the tooth is the right size and shape.
Our enamel can erode from acid attacks that occur when we eat too much sugar and bacteria feed off of these sugars and convert them into acids that attack our enamel. This can lead to cavities or holes in the teeth. Dental trauma and accidents or biting into something too hard can cause chips or cracks in our teeth. Bonding can fill in these cracks and repair the teeth.
Did you know dental bonding can be a solution for minor orthodontic problems like small gaps and slightly crooked teeth? Bonding can fill in gaps by making certain teeth larger or wider and can be combined with tooth contouring to fix misaligned or overlapping teeth.
One of the biggest cosmetic issues people have with their teeth is discoloration from a buildup of stains over the years. So many things cause tooth stains – smoking, flavored drinks, foods, and certain medications, and dental cleanings can only do so much to improve this. Bonding can treat discolored teeth by covering the discoloration with a more desirable shade.
Dental bonding can completely redefine the aesthetics of your pearly whites. You can even completely change your tooth shape and blend a single tooth that stands out from the rest of your smile.
